Total Slacker

That is what I am.  I just don't feel like I have much to report!  It feels like the side effects of chemo are behind me.  The only thing that might clue someone in to my cancer is my hair (or lack thereof!).  I started wearing my caps again because it is growing faster on top than it is around the sides.  I look like an army guy, not that I have a problem with army guys, I just don't want to look like one.  : )  I started taking the Tamoxifen a few weeks ago and I've had no problems with it.  Some people have dreadful side effects, I am grateful to tolerate it well.  It is the last thing on the list of  "doing everything I can" to prevent cancer from coming back.  Tamoxifen prevents estrogen from attaching to fast growing cells--estrogen was "feeding" my tumors, so that is an important last step.  Hooray!

McKinley just turned one, we took her today to get her pictures taken.  I must share!  She is so dang cute.

I had no intention of being in the pictures.  If I had known I would have ended up there, I would have worn a nice shirt, maybe put on some make-up!  I was trying to comfort her because she didn't like posing and getting attention from the picture lady.  How could I not order that picture?!?  Look at that face.  We love her!

I was called as the Girls Camp Director a couple of weeks ago.  Camp is on the 27th and lasts for 5 days, so I have a few things to figure out!  Maddie is really excited to have me there, this is her first year.  I feel a little overwhelmed, I am not a crafty person at all and I see what some of the other wards are doing.  Yikes!  I've been debating about whether I should come up with some grandiose theme and spend a bunch of money on decorations for the cabin and other stuff.  I'm not sure.  I'd rather spend the money on snacks and s'more stuff.  That is more my style.  : )

my mom was the stake camp director for my first year of camp. i loved it. skip the decorations, spend the $$ on stuff the girls can do or t-shirts or something. just keep them busy and it won't matter how you spend the $! ;)

Kim, please don't bother decorating! Do it your style--I can vouch for the Beehives, they'd rather have sugar any day :o) I'm way excited :o) And McKinley is BEAUTIFUL!!!

wow, short notice for camp. but that just means that it will be better because you won't spend so much wasted time on details that don't matter--camp is not about crafts--just get out there and enjoy the girls and the outdoors--isn't that what it's all about?! glad we're planning to see you toward the end of the next week. that worked out well, as things always do.
you'll do great! no stress and let the girls help with everything--they love that
Annette :)

Beautiful pictures, Kim! I love those blue eyes. I ended up being in some of Jack's 9 week old pictures when he was born. I remember not being happy with the way my fingernails looked. I wasn't planning on being in them either.

Looking forward to "seeing" you tomorrow night. Maybe we can think of some fun crafty things. That's right up mine and Melanie's alleys. :)

Girl, I totally remember girls camp back when we were there together! Jen and I still sing all those crazy camp songs and remember back at all the traditions we had. Those were some of the most fun times ever!!! Do you remember when Kari had to wear a home made potty on her head all day, after her verdict came back in Kangaroo Court? Funny stuff. Although I think camp has changed some what. I'm sure I have a picture of it in a box somewhere. Anyway, have fun at Camp...I know the girls will benefit from you being there for sure!

Your baby is so super sweet! What a cute little innocent face. Love the picture with you in it. She'll love it too one day when she is old enough to really cherish it!

Beautiful pictures all around! It's such a sweet time in a child's life, and I agree that she is going to want this for a keepsake when she's older.

Cierra's at girl's camp right now and I sure hope she's having fun. You will be amazing for those lucky girls to hang out with. Just interact with them and make them laugh - hey, Maddie could do some palm readings......
