Puppy

He's sleeping.  That can't be comfortable.
Our lives have revolved around the puppy this week.  I can already tell he's grown since we picked him up a week ago.  Crazy how fast that happens, he's more confident (or tolerant!) with us. I can tell he's happy, and that makes me happy!

I introduced the kennel today. He's not been one bit interested in it, maybe a little afraid of it!  I put his food and water in the back of it and his blanket in the front with some toys.  I got some little bits of chicken from Costco and slowly coaxed him in over and over again.  Tonight I did the same thing to put him in for the night.  He's whining but not barking.  He'll be a pro in a couple of days!

I told the kids that there could only be one trainer, and that is me.  The thought terrified me at first, but I think I've done a decent job.  I share what I figure out and work on with the kids and Mat.

I took this picture just after he had gone on a digging frenzy in the back yard.  It reminded me of a favorite book from my childhood, The Diggingest Dog.  It was hilarious to watch him dig so enthusiastically that it flipped him into a summersault.  Now, I realize that isn't something we should encourage, but it was pretty dang funny to watch!
